Our Ambassadors
Introduction

Committed, passionate and driven by purpose, the PdG ambassadors embody the values, vision and commitment of our organisation. Each of them, through their background and personality, helps bring the PdG vision to life, share its values and strengthen its impact.

Caroline Ulrich

“Representing the PdG means building a bridge between a new generation of athletes and a race that is part of Switzerland’s heritage.”

At 22 years old and originally from La Tour-de-Peilz (VD), Caroline is a member of the Swiss ski mountaineering team. A four-time world champion in the youth category, double gold medallist at the Youth Olympic Games, as well as European and U23 world champion, she embodies the new generation. In 2026, she will aim for the sprint podium at the Milano-Cortina Olympic Games before representing Switzerland at the PdG.

Our guest ambassador on the show Les Dicodeurs

From 26 to 30 January 2026, just ahead of the Milan–Cortina Olympic Games, where she is aiming for a podium finish in ski mountaineering (sprint), champion Caroline Ulrich was a guest on the radio show Les Dicodeurs on RTS La Première. Below are the five episodes to listen again to this engaging ambassador of the Patrouille des Glaciers. She was fantastic.

Aurélien Gay

“I haven’t finished writing my story with the PdG yet — one day, I will win it.”

Based in Martigny (VS), Aurélien Gay is a 25-year-old athlete and a member of the Swiss Team. The 2024/2025 season marks a major turning point in his career, highlighted by two medals at the World Championships in Morgins.

Beyond his outstanding international achievements — bronze in the Vertical race and silver in the team event — his ultimate challenge remains rooted in his native Valais, at the legendary PdG. Ambitious and determined, Aurélien will take part in the 2026 edition as part of the Swiss Team, with a clear objective: to win the race.

Andrea Sherpa-Zimmermann

“In the mountains, and particularly at the PdG, a true team spirit develops. You have to know how to grit your teeth, dig deep within yourself, and persevere together to move forward and reach the summit.”

Andrea Sherpa Zimmermann’s life is guided by passion, commitment, and the surpassing of oneself. As a high-level athlete leading a constant fight for greater justice, this Biel native has forged a unique path between the summits of the Alps and those of the Himalayas. She made history by becoming the 9th woman to reach the summit of Everest on May 21, 2016, accompanied by her husband Norbu.

Her love of sport and her deep sense of fairness naturally led her towards international sports law. She practices as a lawyer, serving athletes and sports institutions.

Now living in the Valais, in the heart of the Alps, this committed entrepreneur is the co-founder of Wild Yak Expeditions and The Butterfly Help Project, an association dedicated to supporting families and children in Nepal. She also created Mountain Path Switzerland, offering immersive mountain seminars that foster leadership, cohesion, and personal development.

As a member of the Patrouille des Glaciers Foundation Board, she contributes to its strategic direction.

Nicolas Bideau

“The Patrouille des Glaciers embodies values that are close to my heart — commitment, team spirit and pushing beyond one’s limits — everything that makes Switzerland strong and proud.

Nicolas Bideau lives in the Lausanne region and works in Bern within the Federal Administration. He has extensive experience in communication and promotion.

In 2011, he was appointed Director of Presence Switzerland, a federal body responsible for promoting Switzerland’s image abroad. Since December 2022, he has been Head of Communication at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). As a member of the Foundation Board of the Patrouille des Glaciers, he has also been one of its ambassadors since this year.
