IMPORTANT INFORMATION: RACES Z1/A1 POSTPONED BY 24 HOURS
All news
News | 13 April 2026

The Commander of the Patrouille des Glaciers places the highest priority on the safety of the patrols, as well as the military and civilian personnel involved.

Weather conditions over the past 24 hours have led to increased moisture in the snowpack, raising the avalanche risk along the route. Additionally, reduced visibility prevents guaranteed optimal access for rescue services and fails to meet required safety standards.

Under these conditions, it is not possible to maintain the schedule for the Z1/A1 race.

This decision has been made in anticipation of improving conditions.

Consequently:

Races:

  • The starts for races Z1 and A1 are postponed by 24 hours.
  • Races Z2/A2 remain unchanged.

Official Events:

  • Race briefing ceremonies in Zermatt (4:30 PM and 6:00 PM) and the prize-giving ceremony in Verbier are postponed by 24 hours.
  • The festival village in Verbier will be open on Thursday.

Practical Aspects:

  • An early equipment check is scheduled in Sion on 14 April from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
  • An equipment check is open in Zermatt on 14 and 15 April from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the Triftbachhalle.
  • Reception of patrol members in Sion on 15 April from 2:00 pm until the race starts.
  • Equipment checks remain in place on race days.
  • SBB transport tickets remain valid for the new timetable.
  • Accommodation: the overnight stay from Tuesday to Wednesday remains valid.
